Unintended radio silence: June 29

Hey there, cats and kittens! I took the opportunity this last weekend to celebrate my husband’s birthday, then I went on the road for work. This whole week, I have been dealing with a twitchy muscle under my left eye. So obnoxious! As a result of running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I have not blogged. Meh, we’ll all be okay. 😁

Turmoil over birthday day: June 23

I an going to be traveling next week, and wouldn’t you know it, my husband’s birthday is Tuesday. I asked him when I was making my itinerary if he would rather me be home, or traveling 2 weeks in a row (the 4th of July screws things up, too!). He says it doesn’t matter to him, but I am still a bit upset over it. πŸ˜” We decided to make it a week out, so that I wouldn’t be gone 2 weeks in a row. In the meantime,  I am trying to get some special things planned for him. πŸ˜„ I would show you his gifts, but he is an occasional reader. πŸ˜‚

Good thing I took the picture early today: June 21

I’m home this week,  but I don’t have to be in the office.  I’m working my “local” territory this week! Best of both worlds. 😁It is hot, but not miserable yet. I celebrated the first day of summer by getting ice cream, then by getting ice cream on my shirt. It looked hungry. πŸ˜†πŸ¦

Here come the dog days: June 19

It was a nice weekend, but like nearly every other weekend, it was too short. πŸ˜‚

We got a bit of work done on our 4Runner! We updated the seat covers and steering wheel cover, and added some stickers and a dash-mounted hula dancer. (Very important! πŸ˜†) I scrubbed the interior to remove an untold number of years’ worth of gunk and grime from the steering wheel, door panels and dashboard, while my husband replaced windshield wipers, spark plug wires, the transmission dipstick, and the PCV valve and its associated grommet.

Yesterday, we loaded up and went to a local pull-your-own-parts yard, and scrounged up some odds and ends. We got a new wheel for my husband’s daily driver, as well as an ABS wheel sensor, the master cylinder reservoir, a fuel hose, the coil pack bolts, and a whip-style radio antenna for the 4Runner. After running around town, we showered and had dinner with my dad for Father’s Day!

Worn out and glad to be home: June 16

Well, it was a long, hot week on the road. But, the accommodations and the people were nice. Traffic coming home was icky. But, we managed to close the deal on our extra car!  One less car, a little bit of money back into the bank. Yay!

When your abs hurt because you don’t work out enough: June 14

Yep, the abs are punishing me. It even hurts to cough.  I showed them by eating a honey butter chicken biscuit for breakfast. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I purposely picked an outfit that was not very binding around my middle today. I didn’t think I would want to deal with tight pants all day.

The one where I drove around the boonies all day: June 13

Glad I ate a good breakfast!  I was running around all day. I did stop by Sonic for a hotdog for lunch, that was a welcome respite. πŸ™‚
I worked out a little bit yesterday,  which was more than I have done in about a month.  I was a little sore today, so I did yoga to stretch out, and I soaked in the bath to relax my tired muscles. I’ll try to work out tomorrow too. As it turns out,  going from a standing job to a driving/seated job and not adjusting food habits chubs a person up. Lol

Where in the world is Jennifer? Bedre! June 12

Hi everyone! I am out and about today! On my way out to my territory today, I stopped at one of my favorite spots, Bedre Chocolate.

Bedre is an enterprise of the Chickasaw Nation.

They have a little bit of everything, my personal favorites are the Meltaways and the white chocolate covered Bugles. Mmmmm πŸ˜‹

Today, I went out on a limb and bought a diet chocolate soda. It was tasty! A bit like a cream soda, but with a subtle chocolate flavor, and a little bit drier.

This is the first time I have been on a day where the line was running!

If you want to check it out for yourself, Bedre is at exit 55 on I35 in Davis, OK. You’ll be glad you did!  β€

There are not enough days in a weekend: June 11

Well, we got the listing together to sell our extra car. We have had a few inquiries, but no showings yet. We went to breakfast at one of our favorite cafes a few miles away, then browsed at an estate sale and came home to get some chores done.

My husband is only just now getting over his respiratory issues, so I didn’t feel like he should be cutting the grass. I took care of that while he changed the oil, spark plugs and plug wires on the for-sale car. He had all of those things ready to do when I was still driving it, but when I took my current job in February, I was issued a vehicle to do work-related things in (including commuting!), so it has been an occasional driver since then.

I got my things ready for a trip out into my territory this week, we went and ate Filipino food out of a truck (OMG DELICIOUS), then we went on a nice stroll around the neighborhood and settled down for the night.

The one where we bought a 4runner: June 10

So, today was a very exciting day! I woke up early (9 is early for a Saturday), I made coconut syrup (whisk 3 ounces of coconut milk with 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch in a small saucepan over medium heat until the cornstarch dissolves. Add 1/2 cup of light corn syrup and 2 tablespoons of white sugar. Whisk constantly over medium to high heat until the mixture boils. Once the mixture achieves a rolling boil, remove from heat and add 1/4 teaspoon of coconut extract. Yield: 1/2 pint) and french toast out of my Hawaiian bread that I baked last week. For added island flair, I put banana slices and mac nuts on top, then politely jammed out to some slack key guitar tunes while I put dem tasty grindz in my face hole. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜πŸŒΊπŸŒ΄
Then, we got dressed and got out the door to go to a big craft fair at the State Fairgrounds, then we went and looked at a 4Runner that my husband found on OfferUp. It was in pretty good shape and we were able to haggle with the seller, got a much better deal. We brought it home, and prepared to list our now-extra car. Hopefully, it sells quickly. Phew! Now, to get to work and turn this baby into an overland adventure mobile!
