WITWIJ? Pauls Valley

Busy, busy week on the road. Wednesday was a day full of Shakespearean comedic blunders (letting my GPS get me lost not once, BUT TWICE), so all I wanted yesterday was to lay on the bed and watch Star Trek movies and eat fast food. Today, I Β wanted better food, but I also wanted to watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions Β (no cable at home! Priorities!!!). So, I compromised and got some Punkin’s BBQ to go.

That mural! ❀

I got a sliced brisket sandwich and housemade chips, Β and I booked it back to my hotel just in time to see Journey.

Tasty brisket, and a lot of it! Moist, flavorful, not too fatty. Great sauce! Zingy and sweet, not too hot. I had to shoo myself out of the chips on the way to the hotel. Crispy, not too oily. Yum!
Next time you’re in town, Β get to Punkin’s. Β It’s on Grant Avenue, go east from exit 72. πŸ˜‹

Well, it looks like rain here today… my curls think so too! They were starting a mutiny on my head this morning.  πŸ˜

Today’s outfit is crazy simple, but I would rather have a sturdy outfit on when that Oklahoma spring weather gets crankin’. β›ˆ

Where in the world is Jennifer? Garvin County

This week, I am working out of town in Garvin county, Oklahoma. I felt like lunch needed to happen sooner than later today, so I stopped at Wiley’s Sweets and Eats in Maysville.

The food is good, and a very reasonable price. I paid $7 for a burger, chips, and drink.

It smelled so good, I had to have some before the picture! You can tell when a restaurant makes their burger patties, and Wiley’s does.
Wiley’s is at 6th and Williams in Maysville. Go enjoy a summer day on a shaded picnic table, in a lovely little town. ❀❀❀

On health and stuff. Bonus: ootd may 8

So, I have always had allergies and wicked postnasal drainage. I have also always assumed that the two were related. Back in 2009, during a very stressful time (divorce), I had a long bout of drainage, coughing, mild heartburn, nausea and vomiting in the morning. Fast forward to 2013, same scenario. This time, I was so anxious about my job and personal debt, I assumed it was contributing to the symptoms I was experiencing, like before. Fast forward to a month ago (new job!) and here we are again. Over all this time, I have tried a number of different approaches: reducing dairy, talk therapy, yoga, PMR (stands for progressive muscle relaxation), every allergy remedy under the sun… In March, I went and got checked out, thinking it was allergy related. After a month of Flonase, I was still having problems 3-4 days a week. I was doing some research online about my symptoms, and an article about reflux came up. I had many of the symptoms listed, but preferring to have a real medical professional’s advice and diagnosis (sorry, Dr. Google),  I contacted my doctor and made an appointment. Sure enough, he thinks it’s reflux. Now, if I can get the reflux under control, maybe I can work on my responses to stress. πŸ˜‚
Now, on a more pleasant note, here’s my outfit for today. Please excuse the potatolike quality of my photography.

  • Blouse: originally Old Navy, thrifted
  • Necklace: Modcloth
  • Skirt: originally Old Navy, thrifted

The one where I tell you about me

Hi, I’m Jennifer. I live in Oklahoma,  I have a husband and a fluffy black cat, I work at a state agency. I have worked as a hairdresser for 13 years. I like cooking and eating, spoiling myself with good grooming products, wearing colorful clothes, singing barbershop, getting outside, reading, and making things.

  • Blouse: Old Navy
  • Necklace: Walmart (I know! I was surprised, too!)
